Saha Scholarship to the STS Annual Meeting
The Saha Scholarship provides the opportunity for cardiothoracic surgery residents and medical students to attend the STS Annual Meeting. The award covers the cost of registration for the STS Annual Meeting, three nights lodging at an STS Annual Meeting partner hotel, and a stipend to defray the cost of travel.
Purpose
The TSF Saha Scholarship provides the opportunity for cardiothoracic surgery residents from India and the United States, and medical students from North America, to attend, learn, and network at the 2027 STS Annual Meeting. This award is made possible by the generosity of Sibu P. Saha, MD, MBA.
Eligibility
- Cardiothoracic surgery residents enrolled in an ACGME-accredited program in the United States
- Cardiothoracic surgery residents enrolled in an accredited residency program in India
- New: Medical students from North America (United States, Canada, or Mexico)
Applicant does not need to be of Indian or South Asian descent to apply.
Previous Saha Scholarship recipients are not eligible to apply for an additional Saha Scholarship.
Recipients of other scholarships that include attendance at the STS Annual Meeting are not eligible to apply. This includes the following programs:
- STS Looking to the Future
- STS You Belong Scholarship
- STS–WTS Scholarship Program for the STS Annual Meeting
- Applicants who apply for and are selected to receive any of the scholarships listed above will not be eligible to accept an award through the TSF Saha Scholarship, if offered.
Award Amount
The TSF Saha Scholarship is valued at up to $3,500. The TSF Saha Scholarship award covers the cost of registration for the STS Annual Meeting, including the President’s Reception, and lodging at a STS Annual Meeting Partner hotel for three nights. Scholarship recipients will receive a stipend to defray the cost of meals, ground transportation, and airfare; Recipients from North American will receive a travel stipend of $800, and recipients from India will receive a travel stipend of $2,000.
