STS/TSF Global Access Scholarship
The STS/TSF Global Access Scholarship is designed to reduce financial barriers for practicing surgeons from resource limited settings to participate in the specialty’s premier educational forum. By expanding access to the STS Annual Meeting, these scholarships support workforce development, access to high quality education, and the advancement of equitable cardiothoracic care globally (outside the United States and Canada).
Purpose
The STS/TSF Global Access Scholarship is designed to reduce financial barriers for practicing surgeons from resource limited settings to participate in the specialty’s premier educational forum. By expanding access to the STS Annual Meeting, these scholarships support workforce development, access to high quality education, and the advancement of equitable cardiothoracic care globally (outside the United States and Canada). This award is made possible by the generosity of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
Eligibility
- Board-certified cardiothoracic surgeons who are within seven years of completing training.
Award Amount
The STS/TSF Global Access Scholarship is valued at up to $4,000. The STS/TSF Global Access Scholarship award covers the cost of registration for the STS Annual Meeting, including the President’s Reception, and lodging at a STS Annual Meeting Partner hotel for three nights. Scholarship recipients will receive a travel stipend to defray the cost of meals, ground transportation, and airfare. Stipend amounts will be determined based on the distance traveled from the recipient’s home location to attend the annual meeting.
